As we watch heartbreaking scenes of death and destruction of the brutal war in Ukraine, I felt moved to action. Sometimes, it feels like small efforts are not worth it. But I contemplated a vow I took as a Daughter of the King, which compelled me to doing something: “I cannot do everything, but I can do something. What I can do, I ought to do. What I ought to do, by the grace of God I will do. Lord, what will you have me do?” As an artist, I can make product that will remind those receiving it of their brothers and sisters on the other side of the world. This bangle is my small effort. Wear it and contemplate. Wear it and pray. All profits go to emergency aid. I have selected the American Red Cross and Samaritan’s Purse as the recipients of all profits. Please indicate which of these organizations you prefer with your order.
Samaritan’s Purse has set up a field hospital in western Ukraine to care for people suffering the ravages of war. Mobile medical clinics operate in Moldova. They also have disaster response specialists on the ground helping Ukrainians displaced as the war continues. Franklin Graham, President and CEO of Samaritan’s Purse said: “We want to meet the needs of these families in their darkest moments while pointing them to the light and hope of Jesus Christ.” The organization works with hurting people affected by war, famine, disease and natural disasters.
American Red Cross teams work to help communities and Ukrainians impacted by the conflicts of the war. They distribute food and water, blankets and bedding, medicine, medical supplies, first aid, hygiene and trauma kits, baby products and household items to those facing this horrific humanitarian crisis. “They urgently need food, water and shelter, but also emergency medical care, protective measures and psychosocial support to avert an even greater humanitarian catastrophe,” said Birgitte Bischoff Ebbesen of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies Regional Director for Europe.
