Description
On my first trip to Rwanda, I was intensely attracted to the batiks worn by men, women and children throughout the country. I was also struck by the fact that most fabric stalls were rented by sole women entrepreneurs. We decided to bring these fascinating patterns to you in the form of fabricated bags. We believe in “small batch.” In this way, we control our supply chain, giving steady work to women entrepreneurs who need it the most. We believe that when you control supply chain and purchase small batch only, you have the potential to create the most benefit to the world’s working poor. We interact directly with our suppliers and carefully curate for palette, pattern and quality, lending a distinct aesthetic to our line.
Once the fabric and these bags are sold, we will not buy more. This small batch approach helps us give work to solo entrepreneurs and keep every project owned at the local level. These bags are almost sold out in the patterns shown. Please inquire when you place your order as to availability.
